PRIVACY POLICY

The short version
This site has no analytics, no advertising, no social media trackers and no cookies. Reading this page tells us nothing about you.
The only personal data we hold is the email address you type in yourself, if you ask to be told when a new part of DEVOURED is released.
Who is responsible
DEVOURED is an independent audio novel written, narrated and produced by Susanna Dicander, who also runs this website and decides what happens to the data described here — the “data controller” under the GDPR.

What we collect, and why
Only what you type in yourself, plus what any web server records on its own:
- Your email address — only if you type it into the sign-up form. It is used for one thing: telling you when a new part of DEVOURED is out. Legal basis: your consent.
- The date and time of your sign-up, kept as the record that the request came from you. Legal basis: your consent, and our obligation to be able to show it was given.
- The IP address the sign-up was sent from. It is used only to stop machines from flooding the form (five attempts every ten minutes), it is erased after 30 days, and it is never used to identify you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a form that works.
- Ordinary server logs — the page requested, your IP address, the time and your browser's identifier — which our hosting provider records for every site it runs. They keep the site up and let us look into faults and attacks. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a working, secure site.
We never ask for your name. If you never use the form, nothing about you is stored at all.
What we do not do
- We do not build a profile of you and we make no automated decisions about you.
- We do not sell, rent or share your address with anyone.
- We do not use it for anything other than release notifications — no unrelated marketing.
- We run no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
Who else can see it
The subscriber list lives in this website's own database — there is no Mailchimp, no advertising network and no analytics company receiving it.
The site and that database are hosted by Hostinger International Ltd, on servers in the European Union (France). Hostinger acts only on our instructions and also delivers the emails we send. Your data is not transferred outside the European Economic Area.
How long we keep it
- Your email address: until you unsubscribe. Every notification carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us by email.
- The IP address of the sign-up: 30 days, then it is erased automatically.
- Server logs: kept for a short period by our hosting provider as part of running the servers.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it;
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to that use;
- hand it over in a portable format;
- and you may withdraw your consent whenever you like — unsubscribing does exactly that, and it does not affect anything done before.
Write to contact@devouredaudionovel.com and you will have an answer within 30 days. If you think we have handled your data badly, you can also complain to the data protection authority of the country you live in.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16. If a child has signed up, write to us and the address will be removed.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over an encrypted connection, the subscriber list sits on the site's own server, and only Susanna Dicander can reach it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. See also the Cookie Policy.
